Three Russian Su-24 bombers shelled Ukraine over the past day.

Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Motuzianyk said this at a briefing on Friday, April 8.

"Three Russian Su-24M bombers were involved in launching air strikes [against Ukraine] over the past day," he said.

According to Motuzianyk, the Russian command is concentrating its main efforts on the formation of an offensive grouping in the eastern operational zone.

"Establishing full control over the Donetsk and Luhansk regions remains the purpose of the offensive. The enemy continues to use missile weapons to fire at military and civilian targets of our state. Repressions against the local population and attempts to establish occupation authorities continue in the occupied territories," he said.

According to Motuzianyk, the enemy is regrouping in order to launch an attack in the Donetsk direction.

In particular, Russian forces that were withdrawn from the northern and northeastern part of Ukraine are being relocated to designated areas, with additional Russian reserves being transferred to Ukraine.

A large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine has been going on since February 24. The invaders have been shelling and destroying critical infrastructure and residential areas of Ukrainian cities, towns and villages using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.
