Azov Regiment claims that letters to authorities fake

Provocative e-mails allegedly sent on behalf of the regiment to government officials and journalists have nothing to do with the unit.

The Azov Regiment made an official statement on that matter on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

“Provocative e-mails allegedly sent by an Azov Regiment soldier targeted official e-mails of government officials, journalists and other persons. The sender himself and his position have nothing to do with the Azov Regiment, which is currently defending the city of Mariupol,” write the Azov members.

They also note that the hosting from which the letters were sent is in Zurich, Switzerland. In addition, the e-mail address itself was registered recently, on March 22, 2022, presumably to spread discrediting information.

The Azov Regiment has published the letter and data about the fake hosting. Servicemen have stressed that the search for criminals has already begun.

It is worth noting that the fake provocative letter differs in style from Azov's message as it contains abusive words, ‘defeatisms’ and anti-government slogans.

As Ukrinform reported, Ukrainian politicians, industrialists and entrepreneurs are urging CNN not to spread Kremlin’s disinformation narratives about the Azov Regiment, which is currently defending Mariupol and to remove from its website a column with gross distortions.

On February 24, Russian President Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The invaders are shelling and destroying key infrastructure facilities, carrying out massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, rocket-propelled grenades and ballistic missiles.
