President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Italy is ready to become one of the guarantors of security for Ukraine.

He said this in a video address, Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Italy has agreed to become one of the guarantors of Ukraine's security in the relevant new system of guarantees that we are elaborating," Zelensky said, noting that he had a conversation with Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi on Monday.

As reported, Italy has frozen more than 800 million euros worth of assets belonging to Russian oligarchs.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure facilities, conducting massive shelling of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.

Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.

Ukraine has officially filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation with the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague.
