Russia changes rhetoric about invasion of Ukraine, focusing on less ‘great victories’

Ukrinform
The command of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces has changed the rhetoric about the goals of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russians are being prepared for less great "victories".

According to Ukrinform, the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine wrote this on Telegram.

In particular, the chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, Sergei Rudsky, now says that the main goal of the "special operation" in Ukraine is "complete liberation of Donbas", and Rudsky has not mentioned the "denazification" and "demilitarization" of Ukraine.

In addition, the international department of propaganda media outlet RIA published a map showing that Russian troops have not carried out an offensive in any direction for two weeks.

"Moreover, the propaganda map shows accumulation of Ukrainian military near the Ukrainian settlements temporarily blocked by the occupiers," the report says.

These facts may indicate that the enemy is gradually changing the information base for the Russian population. As the "special operation" did not follow the scenario planned by the Kremlin, the Russians are being prepared for less “great victories", the Center for Countering Disinformation emphasizes.

As Ukrinform reported, the United States assesses that Russia is prioritizing eastern Ukraine's Donbas, as opposed to Kyiv, in what could be an effort to build leverage in negotiations and cut off Ukrainian forces in the east from the rest of the country.
