The lower house of the Polish parliament passed a resolution condemning Russia's actions in Ukraine, calling them crimes against humanity and acts of genocide.

Polish MPs approved the document unanimously and by a standing ovation, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“The Sejm of the Republic of Poland strongly condemns acts of prolonged violence, war crimes, crimes against humanity, acts of genocide, systemic infringements of human rights and other criminal violations of international law, which are committed in the territory of sovereign Ukraine by the armed forces of the Russian Federation together with allies by the orders of military commanders under the direct leadership of President Vladimir Putin,” reads the statement.

The Sejm calls on all states that recognize the sovereignty, territorial integrity and right of Ukraine to self-determination to support by all means the launch and conduct of trials in the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, and to exercise their powers in all international organizations of which they are members, in order “to bring to justice Vladimir Putin, members of the Russian Security Council and commanders of the armed forces of the Russian Federation for war crimes, crimes against humanity, acts of genocide and systemic human rights violations committed in the territory of sovereign Ukraine.”

According to the resolution, publicly available evidence of these crimes gives the Sejm and the international community grounds to recognize Vladimir Putin as a war criminal.
