Zelensky: Loss of sovereignty is a red line for us

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the loss of sovereignty is a "red line" for Ukrainians.

He said this in an interview with public broadcasters, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

When asked about "red lines" for Ukraine, Zelensky stressed: "We cannot lose our sovereignty. Thousands of people have died. [...] For example, we heard signals, Russia said: this is where we have come in the east, in the south, let us stand here and these will be our territories. It is a loss for us. It is a loss of people. And it is a loss of our sovereignty," Zelensky said.

At the same time, he noted that in order to draw conclusions about certain compromises, it is necessary to know the situation from all angles.

"I want to know all this in detail. And if it hurts me as much as it hurts them [people in trouble], I think that's the only way I can be adequate in making certain decisions. [...] To make certain conclusions, I should not think like I'm in Mariupol, Kyiv or Lviv, but I should understand everything," Zelensky said.

When asked who inspires him today, he said: "Our people are number one. I am a fan of the people of Ukraine."

Russian President Putin on February 24 announced a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying infrastructure, residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.
