More than 1,500 residents of Enerhodar town, Zaporizhzhia region, gathered near the executive committee to hold a peaceful protest to oppose the arbitrariness of Russian invaders and to say that the town will remain Ukrainian forever.

Enerhodar Mayor Dmytro Orlov posted the video from the rally on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"We need to stop the abduction of residents. We keep in touch with the Head of the Regional Military Administration, government officials at all levels. The abduction of Ivan Samoydiuk [first deputy mayor] is a provocation that completely threatens the city's future livelihood. And if he is not released by tomorrow, such actions will be indefinite and round-the-clock," Orlov said.

The action was exclusively peaceful. When the people began to go away, the Russian military arrived and tried to capture several participants and put them into a car. But hundreds of people stood as one thick wall and saved their compatriots from captivity. The occupiers began shooting into the air, then drove away.

As reported, Ivan Samoydiuk was abducted yesterday at a Russian checkpoint on his way back to the town from Zaporizhzhia, from where he brought humanitarian aid.
