Enemy missile fragments damage apartment block in Kyiv

An enemy missile has been shot down in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi District, causing damage to an apartment block with its fragments.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian State Emergency Service on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“On March 17, 2022, Emergency Service 101 received a report about a fire and destruction of a residential house in the capital city’s Darnytskyi District. Firefighters from the closest fire and rescue units immediately arrived at the scene,” the report states.

The rescuers found out that the downed enemy missile fragments caused the destruction in the structures of the building on floor 16 and a technical floor, as well as a fire in the apartment on floor 16.

“At 05:49 a.m., the fire within 20 square meters was extinguished. People are being evacuated from floor 11 and above. Rescue operations are underway to dismantle the debris and search for people,” the Ukrainian State Emergency Service noted.

According to the preliminary data, 30 people were evacuated, including three injured persons. One person was killed. The data are yet to be updated.

A reminder that, on February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops are shelling and destroying the key infrastructure facilities, launching missile and air strikes on residential areas in Ukrainian cities and villages, killing civilians in Ukraine.
