Zelensky proposes extending martial law in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has registered in the Verkhovna Rada the bill No. 7168 "On the Approval of a Decree of the President of Ukraine 'On the Extension of Martial Law in Ukraine'."

The text of the document has been published on the parliament's website, Ukrinform reports.

The document proposes approving the presidential decree on the extension of martial law in Ukraine from 05:30 on March 26, 2022 for a period of 30 days.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure, residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and ballistic missiles.

Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
