Thirty-three railway workers killed since Russian invasion started

A total of 33 railway workers have been killed since the Russian invasion started.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrzaliznytsia JSC on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The railway workers, who have been in the midst of the events since the war started and have already evacuated more than 2 million Ukrainians, mainly children and women, are also suffering losses. Since the Russian armed aggression started, we have lost 33 colleagues, including one of them directly during a trip,” the report states.

Yevhen Khmara, a Ukrainian composer, has arranged an improvised performance at one of Ukrainian railway stations in the memory of the fallen.

“Today’s spontaneous performance is about memory, respect, dignity and strength,” Ukrzaliznytsia JSC noted.

A reminder that, on March 12, 2022, a passenger train intended to run an evacuation trip came under enemy fire in Brusyn, Donetsk Region. One of conductors was killed. The other one was wounded and delivered to a hospital in Sloviansk.
