Today, Brent Renaud, 51, an American citizen and New York Times journalist, has been shot dead by the Russian military in the city of Irpin.

The relevant statement was made by Andrii Niebytov, the Head of National Police in Kyiv Region, on his Facebook page, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In his words, Russian occupiers are cynically shooting even at foreign journalists, who are attempting to tell the truth about the atrocities of Russian troops in Ukraine.

“One more journalist was wounded. Now we are trying to take the wounded out of the combat zone,” Niebytov noted.

According to Niebytov, Brent Renaud paid with his life for trying to outline the insidiousness, cruelty and ruthlessness of the aggressor state.
