A group of prosecutors from the International Criminal Court in The Hague is already in Poland, collecting evidence of Russian crimes among the refugees from Ukraine.

"It is obvious to us that the Russians are committing war crimes in Ukraine," President of Poland Andrzej Duda said at a joint press conference with US Vice President Kamala Harris in Warsaw, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He expressed hope that "the question of who is behind this will also be obvious to the international court in The Hague in the future."

Duda said that a group of prosecutors from the International Criminal Court in The Hague has already arrived in Poland to study the issue, and Poland is providing them with everything they need to carry out important work.

The President of the Republic of Poland noted that refugees from Ukraine were arriving in Poland, people who had witnessed the destruction of their homes, the killing of neighbors, the bombing of hospitals, and the shooting of civilians and children. He stressed that evidence of the crimes committed by Russians were stored in the smartphones of refugees.

"There is a lot of evidence, especially in the form of videos. Everything is being collected. This work is already underway and I believe that it will result in indictments. I believe that this will lead to the condemnation of war criminals of this war in Ukraine as a result of Russia’s barbaric attack," Duda said.

In turn, Harris stressed that the United States also supported and would fully support the international investigation into Russia's crimes.

As reported, the number of refugees from Ukraine exceeded 2 million.

On February 24, president Putin announced the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops are shelling and destroying key infrastructure, massively hitting residential areas of Ukrainian towns and villages using artillery, multiple-launch rocket system, and ballistic missiles.
