Japan sends military protective equipment to Ukraine

A plane of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces has flown out to Ukraine with a cargo of bulletproof vests, helmets and other protective equipment.

The Ministry of Defense of Japan reported this on Twitter, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"To deliver bulletproof vests and helmets to #Ukraine, KC-767 departed from Komaki Air base. JMOD/JSDF will continue to make every effort to assist Ukraine," the tweet reads.

Ukraine's Ambassador to Japan Sergiy Korsunsky said on Tuesday that Ukraine will receive from Tokyo bulletproof vests, helmets, tents, winter clothes, medicines, generators, cameras and equipment for emergency situations. According to him, that's the first time Japan hands over such equipment free of charge to the armed forces of another state.
