The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has issued a statement on the shelling of foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine by the armed forces of Russia.

MFA Ukraine “strongly condemns” the shelling of the premises of foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine by the Russian armed forces, Ukrinform reports.

As a result of the Russian army’s rocket and bomb strikes in Mariupol, the building housing the Greek Consulate General and the office of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission was damaged, and so were the premises of the honorary consulates of Slovenia, Azerbaijan, and Albania in Kharkiv, diplomats recall.

Russia's armed attack on the premises of diplomatic missions is a gross violation of international humanitarian law, the Vienna Conventions on Diplomatic and Consular Relations, MFA explains.

“We call on the international community to condemn Russia for the barbaric shelling of civilian objects in Ukraine, which kills and injures civilians, including children,” the statement reads.

The Ukrainian side will add the facts of the destruction of the premises of foreign diplomatic missions on the territory of Ukraine to the lawsuits filed against Russia with international courts in order to bring Russia to maximum responsibility for its crimes.
