Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, Commander of the Defense of Kyiv, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrsky has checked the readiness of fortifications for a meeting with Russian invaders.

According to Ukrinform, the press service of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported this on Facebook.

"Such unity of citizens and defense forces has never been seen before. We are ready to repel and defeat the enemy. I am sure that on the outskirts of the capital, the aggressor will feel all the anger of the Ukrainian people," the press service quoted Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrsky as saying.

According to the report, all necessary measures are being taken to repel the aggressor, with checkpoints and observation posts being set up and mobile patrol groups being formed.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the head of the Kyiv military administration, Mykola Zhyrnov, said that the situation in the Ukrainian capital remains tense today, but the military and territorial defense forces are being trained to defend Kyiv. According to him, the territorial defense is getting stronger and stronger every day. Checkpoints, strongholds are being set up and objects are being mined. Every quarter, every street and house has been turned into an impregnable fortress. He also said that the situation on the outskirts of Kyiv is controlled by the Ukrainian military, but the most dangerous directions are the Zhytomyr and Vyshgorod directions, as well as Bucha and Irpin.
