“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine states that the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine from the sea is accompanied by piracy of the Russian Navy in the territorial waters and the exclusive maritime economic zone of Ukraine. The search and rescue ship Sapphire, the ship Athena, the ship Princess Nicole were seized through pirate acts of the Russian Navy,” reads the statement.

Ukraine has called on all national and foreign seafarers and ship owners to adhere to border security in the Black and Azov Seas due to the ongoing acts of piracy by the Russian Navy and its robbery of civilian vessels.

The relevant "navigation report" was distributed by Ukraine through the channels of the international automated navigation warning service NAVTEX.

As reported, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine and launched a large-scale invasion. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure. Missiles hit residential buildings.
