Russian invasion update: At least 11 people killed in shelling in Kharkiv
At least 11 people have been killed and dozens have been injured in a rocket attack by Russian troops in Kharkiv.
Head of the Kharkiv Military-Civil Administration Oleh Synehubov called it a war crime and genocide, Ukrinform reports.
"Due to the shelling, which is still ongoing, we cannot even timely involve the rescuers and eliminate the consequences. As of now, 11 people have been killed and dozens have been injured," Synehubov said.
He stressed that the enemy was shelling entire residential areas of Kharkiv, where there is no critical infrastructure or positions of the Armed Forces. Oleksiyivka, Saltivka, and Pavlopol districts come under fire.
"Dozens of civilians are dying. It happens during the day when people go to pharmacies, to buy food and drinking water. It is a crime. Russia uses heavy artillery weapons," the Head of the Kharkiv Military-Civil Administration said.
As reported, Russian troops launched massive strikes on residential districts in Kharkiv. Fifteen servicemen and 16 civilians were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity, and one woman died.
Russian president Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine on February 24 and launched a large-scale invasion. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure facilities. Missiles hit residential buildings.
Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
Ukraine officially filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation at the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the support of all Ukrainian people, courageously resist the Russian aggression.
