The Ukrainian authorities are calling on the European Union for Ukraine’s immediate accession under a special procedure.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said this in a video address on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Europeans are aware that our soldiers are fighting for our country, and therefore for the whole of Europe, for peace for all EU countries, for the lives of children, for equality, for democracy. This gives us the full right to do the following: we appeal to the European Union for Ukraine’s immediate accession under a new special procedure," Zelensky said.

He added that he was grateful to the partners for their unprecedented support for Ukraine, in particular, for the decision to supply Ukraine with weapons and other means.

At the same time, the President stressed that the goal of Ukraine is to be together with all Europeans and, most importantly, to be equal. The President is convinced that Ukraine deserves it and it is fair and possible.

As reported, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the European Union wants to see Ukraine in the European Union, adding that this will happen over time.
