President Zelensky speaks with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has assured Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew that Ukrainians feel the support and strength of his prayers and expressed hope for peace.

The head of state wrote about this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

"Thank you for the warm conversation, Your All-Holiness #Bartholomew. Your words are like hands that hold us up in this difficult time. Ukrainians feel the spiritual support and strength of your prayers. We hope for the soonest peace," Zelensky said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine on February 24 and launched a large-scale invasion. Russian troops are shelling and destroying key infrastructure, and missiles are hitting Ukrainians' homes.

Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.

Ukraine has officially filed a lawsuit against the Russian Federation with the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague.
