Occupiers seize airport in Hostomel, 10km of Kyiv

The occupiers took control of the International Airport “State Enterprise Antonov” in Hostomel, less than 10km of Kyiv.

As adviser to the Head of the President's Office Mykhailo Podoliak told Ukrayinska Pravda media outlet, the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost control of Antonov Airport after fierce fighting.

On February 24, 20 Ka-52 and Mi-8 helicopters of the Russian Federation landed at Hostomel airfield. The National Guard’s Rapid Response Brigade announced a forced artillery strike on Hostomel Airport.

As reported, head of the aggressor country Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of “a special military operation in Donbas”.

At about 04:00, February 24, Russia attacked Ukraine and launched war.

On the morning of February 24, the Verkhovna Rada approved a presidential decree on the imposition of martial law throughout Ukraine.
