A blast was reported outside the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv around midnight.
As National Police of Ukraine posted on Facebook, the incident was qualified as a terrorist act.
The police noted that no one had been hurt as a result of the explosion.
The law enforcers say an unidentified perpetrator threw an explosive device onto the territory of the diplomatic mission.
Criminal proceedings were initiated under Art. 258 (Terrorist Act) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigation is underway to identify those involved in the crime.
The police, national guards and rescuers, as well as the investigative and operational group, immediately came to the scene.
