Sushchenko speaks about his life in Utrobino colony

Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko, illegally convicted in Russia, has sent the first drawing from a colony in the village of Utrobino, the Kirov region of Russia.

In a letter to his colleagues from Ukrinform, he also spoke about his observations at a new place of residence.

"A few lines about everyday life. Over the past period of time since I was taken here, it was necessary to survive the cultural shock associated primarily not with the conditions and 'trappings' of forced displacement (a Stolypin car, unsanitary conditions, cockroaches the size of a matchbox, rodents of all kinds, mildew, humidity, imperceptible darkness, malnutrition and cold), but with the attitude towards people who changed their social status by a court decision," Sushchenko wrote.

According to the journalist, the purpose of prison staff is to intimidate and humiliate the dignity of the people who serve their terms.

Sushchenko said that until a person personally feels imprisonment, it cannot be imagined. "It's terrible, anxiously terrible," he wrote.

In addition to the letter to colleagues, the political prisoner sent his new drawing - the lost "Rouen Cathedral." Sushchenko had already painted it before, but the drawing was lost for some unknown reasons and did not come to his family. Therefore, the journalist decided to draw a new one.

The journalist said that he had used "Kirov pink kissel" and a pastel to draw the picture.
