Poroshenko: We will do everything to bring Sushchenko and all political prisoners home

Together with international partners, Ukraine will continue to do everything to liberate journalist Roman Sushchenko and other Ukrainian political prisoners held in Russia.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko wrote this on his Facebook page.

"Together with our allies and partners, we will continue to do everything to bring Roman [Sushchenko] and all other Ukrainian political prisoners home," the head of state said.

He also informs that a court hearing on Sushchenko’s case is scheduled for May 28.

The president stresses that Sushchenko, like more than other 60 Ukrainians, are political hostages to the Kremlin regime.

As reported, Ukrinform's correspondent in France, Roman Sushchenko, was detained in violation of international rules on September 30, 2016 in Moscow, where he arrived on a private trip.

On October 7, he was charged with "espionage." Russia's FSB claimed that Sushchenko is a member of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. The latter denied this allegation.

Moscow City Court extended Sushchenko's arrest until September 16.
