Investigation into Sushchenko’s case may be completed in September – lawyer

Investigative actions into the case of Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko who was illegally detained in Moscow may be completed in September if it is not deliberately "slowed down".

Lawyer of the journalist Mark Feygin said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

"If Sushchenko’s case is not slowed down, I can forecast that in September we will reach the end of the investigative actions," he said.

Feygin also noted as positive the fact that "there is a political dynamics at the international level in the discussion of the issue on possible exchange of Sushchenko."

As reported, Ukrinform correspondent in France Roman Sushchenko was arrested in Moscow on September 30, where he arrived on a private visit. On October 7, he was accused of "espionage."

The Russian Federal Security Service claimed that Sushchenko was an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. The latter denied the allegations.

The period of Sushchenko's detention was extended until September 30.
