Poroshenko at talks with Macron raised issue of release of journalist Sushchenko – Tsegolko

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during negotiations with French President Emmanuel Macron raised the issue of release of Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko who was illegally arrested in Russia.

Press Secretary of the President of Ukraine Svyatoslav Tsegolko informed this on Twitter.

"During the talks, the President of Ukraine raised the issue of release of journalist Roman Sushchenko," Tsegolko wrote.

As reported, Ukrinform correspondent in France Roman Sushchenko was arrested in Moscow on September 30. He was accused of “espionage”, allegedly being a member of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. The Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate denied allegations of the Russian Federal Security Service.

On April 26, the Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow extended pre-trial detention term of Sushchenko until June 30, 2017.
