The colleagues of journalist Roman Sushchenko, who was illegally arrested in Russia, have conducted a flash mob in his support near the Ukrinform news agency office in center of Kyiv.

About half a hundred participants took part in the flash mob, the agency reports.

"French President Emmanuel Macron today meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Paris. We conduct this flash mob to once again draw attention to Kremlin’s violation of the international law and demand to free our correspondent," Ukrinform Director General Oleksandr Kharchenko said.

He recalled that Sushchenko had been detained in Moscow almost eight months ago. Having put forward the groundless accusations of alleged espionage, the Russian side has still not provided any evidence to this and does not actually conduct any investigation into the case.

"The lawyers, colleagues and family members of Ukrinform’s own correspondent in France Roman Sushchenko, who has been illegally held in the Lefortovo Moscow’s remand prison, hope for assistance of the French side in his release," Kharchenko said.

The flash mob, held by Ukrinform, took place as part of the worldwide action in support of Sushchenko.
