President Poroshenko asks diplomats to assist in release of journalist Sushchenko

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has called for diplomatic representatives to apply any possible efforts to assist in sooner release of arrested journalist Roman Sushchenko and other Ukrainians that are being held hostage in Russia. 

The President said this when commenting, at an Ukrinform correspondent's request, on the situation with Sushchenko.

“I gave a relevant order that all Ukrainian diplomatic possibilities be applied so that we can release Panov, and Sushchenko and other Ukrainian hostages, sufferers, who are being kept in Russian prisons,” President Poroshenko said.

As earlier reported, Russian security officers in violation of all international rules detained Ukrinform correspondent Roman Sushchenko in Moscow on September 30. He is  being kept in a Moscow prison under a two-month detention order effective till November 30.
