Italy's Andrea Maldera named new Ukraine football manager
Andrea Maldera has officially been appointed the new head coach of Ukraine's national football team.
According to the press service of the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF), the Italian specialist's candidacy was approved on Monday by the UAF Executive Committee following a recommendation from the National Teams Committee, Ukrinform reports.
This marks the first time in history that Ukraine's national football team will be led by a foreign coach. Maldera has signed a two-year contract with an option for extension.
Born on May 18, 1971, Maldera previously worked as an assistant coach at AC Milan (Italy), Brighton & Hove Albion (England), and Olympique de Marseille (France).
From 2016 to 2021, he served as an assistant to Andriy Shevchenko in the Ukraine coaching staff.
From 2023 to 2026, Ukraine's national football team was led by Serhiy Rebrov.
