Olympics medal winners from Rivne to get new apartments

Ukraine's Tokyo 2020 Olympics medal winners Mykhailo Romanchuk and Oleh Omelchuk from Rivne will receive new apartments, Chairman of Rivne Regional State Administration Vitalii Koval has written on messaging app Telegram.

"The Olympic athletes deserve to get apartments. Half of the medals won by Team Ukraine at the Tokyo Olympics are the merit of Rivne athletes. At the next regional council session, we will raise the issue of allocating funds to buy apartments for Mykhailo Romanchuk and Oleh Omelchuk," Koval said.

According to him, the swimming pool at Rivne sports school No.2, where Romanchuk started training, will be reconstructed as part of President Volodymyr Zelensky's Great Construction programme next year.

Earlier reports said that Ukrainians Olena Kostevych and Oleh Omelchuk had secured bronze medals in the 10-metre air pistol mixed team event.

Swimmer Mykhailo Romanchuk won a silver medal in the men's 1500m freestyle event and a bronze medal in the men's 800m freestyle event.
