President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Serhiy Bubka has attended the opening of the first specialized curling arena in Ukraine, the NOC's press service has reported.

"A remarkable event in the history of domestic winter sports development took place in the capital on February 5 - the opening of the first specialized curling arena in Ukraine. A symbolic ribbon was cut by President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Olympic champion Serhiy Bubka, and President of the Ukrainian Curling Federation, member of the NOC executive committee Oleksiy Perevezentsev," the report reads.

Bubka said during the ceremony that the presence of a specialized curling rink will solve several tasks at once: Ukrainian athletes will have good training conditions, Ukraine will be able to host prestigious international curling tournaments, and ordinary Ukrainians will have a great opportunity to try their hand at this sport.
