Rayo Vallecano fined for 'Nazi' chants aimed at Ukrainian Zozulya

Spanish football club Rayo Vallecano has been punished with a two-game partial stadium ban and fined EUR 18,000 because of the "Nazi" chants aimed at Albacete forward Roman Zozulya, Ukraine's sports news site Sport Arena has reported, with reference to Spanish media outlets.

In addition, the second half of the game between Rayo Vallecano and Albacete will be played behind closed doors.

Earlier, Ukraine's Ambassador to Spain Anatoliy Scherba said that Rayo Vallecano would be punished even if the club did not file an appeal.

A Spanish Segunda match between Rayo Vallecano and Albacete on December 15 was abandoned at half-time due to insults made towards Albacete forward Roman Zozulya. Rayo Vallecano fans chanted that Zozulya was a Nazi.

Zozulya said at a press conference that some Rayo Vallecano fans were fighting against Ukraine in Donbas.
