Usyk recognized as BoxingScene's 2018 fighter of the year

Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, the undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world, has become the 2018 Fighter of the Year according to BoxingScene.com.

Other runners-up for the title included Terence Crawford, Mikey Garcia, Maurice Hooker, Kosei Tanaka, and Josh Warrington.

In 2018, Usyk won the World Boxing Super Series, defeating Mairis Briedis and Murat Gassiev. Before the fight with the Russian, Usyk held WBO and WBC cruiserweight belts. He won two more titles - WBA and IBF - after defeating Gassiev.

In November, Usyk successfully defended his championship titles, beating Briton Tony Bellew in Manchester.

Usyk was recognized as the best boxer according to ESPN, Yahoo! Sports, WBA and The Ring.
