Svitolina wins WTA Finals for first time in her career

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has captured the biggest title of her career by winning the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore.

In the final game on Sunday, October 28, Svitolina beat Sloane Stephens of the United States 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, Ukrinform reports.

The match lasted two hours and 25 minutes.

This was the fourth game between the two in which the Ukrainian earned a second victory.

On her way to the final, Svitolina in the White Group defeated Czech players Petra Kvitova (6-3, 6-3) and Karolina Pliskova (6-3, 2-6, 6-3), as well as defending champion Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark (5-7, 7-5, 6-3). Elina also beat Dutch player Kiki Bertens (7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4) in the semifinals.

Svitolina won the season-ending WTA Finals for the first time in her career. This was her fourth title in 2018 and 13th in her career.
