Ukrainian boxer Lomachenko undergoes shoulder surgery

WBA world lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (11-1, 9 KO) has successfully undergone surgery on his right shoulder.

The operation performed by one of the best U.S. surgeons, Neal ElAttrache, was successful, according to Egis Klimas, the manager of the Ukrainian boxer.

"We are back to life, just waking up after successful surgery," Klimas wrote on Instagram.

Lomachenko said he hurt his shoulder during the second round of his 10th-round stoppage victory over Jorge Linares in New York on May 12.

ElAttrache said that if all goes well with the surgery, Lomachenko could return to training in early October and be ready to fight in early December.

Earlier, it was planned that Lomachenko's next fight will take place on August 25, but later Bob Arum announced that the plans had changed. The most likely opponent of the Ukrainian boxer is WBO lightweight champion Ray Beltran of Mexico (35-7-1, 21 KO).
