Eighty Ukrainian athletes to participate in X World Games in Wroclaw

Eighty Ukrainian athletes will participate in X World Games to be held in Wroclaw, Poland, on July 20-30.

Youth and Sports Minister of Ukraine Ihor Zhdanov announced this at a press conference, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Practically the entire planet, 111 countries including Ukraine, will be represented in Wroclaw. Eighty Ukrainian athletes, who gained the appropriate licenses to participate in the World Games, will compete in 20 disciplines," the Minister said.

In general, the athletes will compete for 222 sets of awards in 31 non-Olympic and 5 Olympic sports.

Zhdanov noted that the preparations of athletes for the World Games had been for the first time financed under a separate budget program, and a total of UAH 45 million had been allocated for this purpose.

He stressed that the winners of the Games would be given monetary rewards: UAH 480,000 for a gold medal, UAH 400,000 for a silver medal and UAH 240,000 for a bronze one.

A total of 4,500 athletes from 111 countries will take part in X World Games to be held in Wroclaw, Poland, on July 20-30.
