Ukraine’s Ivanchuk, Muzychuk become world chess rapid champions

Ukrainian grandmaster Vasyl Ivanchuk became the world champion at FIDE World Chess Rapid and Blitz Championships 2016, held in Doha (Qatar).

Ivanchuk scored 11 points in 15 games, Ukrinform reports.

During the championships, the Ukrainian grandmaster beat the reigning world champion of classical chess Norwegian Magnus Carlsen and former world champion Viswanathan Anand from India.

Earlier on Wednesday, Ukrainian Hanna Muzychuk became a champion in Women's World Rapid and Blitz Championships 2016.
