Ukrainian chess master wins tournament in Bad Wiessee

Ukrainian chess master Oleksandr Areshchenko has become the winner of the XX international chess tournament in Bad Wiessee (Germany).

Areshchenko scored 7.5 points out of 9 possible, having won six games with three draws.

30-year-old Luhansk city resident edged his rivals Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu (Germany), Gite Gopal (India), Sergei Zhigalko (Belarus), Babu Lalitha, Abhijit Gupta (India) and Konstantin Landa (Russia), who also scored 7.5 points, by additional indicators.

A total of 475 chess players from 22 countries participated in the tournament.
