Kateryna Bondarenko defeats "seeded" Russian opponent at Australian Open

Ukrainian tennis player Kateryna Bondarenko has celebrated her second victory at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

On the Hisense Arena court on Wednesday the Kyiv city resident beat the two-time winner of the tournament Grand Slam Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova, seeded 23, in one hour 25 minutes - 6:1, 7:5, Ukrinform reports.

"I am extremely happy with this victory. Today, it was a crazy match, I was ahead 5:3 in the second set, but then the score was equalized 5:5. It was really hard," she said after the match.

In the third round Bondarenko faces an 18 year old Belinda Bencic of Switzerland, who is 12 seeded, who overcame Timea Babosh from Hungary - 6:3, 6:3 in the second round.
