Truck traffic on Ukraine's roads restricted due to heatwave

Because of rising air temperatures, seasonal movement restrictions for heavy vehicles are being introduced on state roads.

The State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development stated this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

The restrictions will apply to heavy vehicles with an actual weight of more than 24 tonnes and axle load exceeding 7 tons when the air temperature is above +28 degrees Celsius.

Relevant road signs and information boards will be installed on state highways and major logistics routes.

Temporary parking areas for heavy vehicles during the restriction period will be designated jointly with the National Police, Ukrtransbezpeka, local authorities, and owners of road service facilities.

At the same time, the restrictions will not apply to vehicles involved in eliminating the consequences of emergencies; transporting dangerous and perishable goods, live animals, and poultry. Military transport and cargo transportation for defense needs will also not be stopped.

As Ukrinform reported, short-term rain is expected in most parts of Ukraine this week. The warmest weather may be on Tuesday in the east and south of Ukraine, and in some central regions, with temperatures reaching up to +32°C.
