Zelensky: More than 500 buildings in Kyiv still without heating
After a conference call on the situation in the regions, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that more than 500 apartment buildings in Kyiv still have no heating, which means that not enough work is being done in the city.
According to Ukrinform, the head of state announced this on Facebook.
"I held a conference call on the situation in the regions. Dnipropetrovsk region: in Ternivka, Pavlohrad district, Russian drones struck a regular bus carrying miners. Unfortunately, there are many casualties. My condolences to all the families and loved ones. There are also wounded. In Nikopol and Marhanets, there were power outages due to drone strikes on power lines," Zelensky said.
In addition, according to him, there were also strikes on logistics. “On the railway in the Dnipropetrovsk region. In Konotop, in the Sumy region, the Russians also struck the railway infrastructure today. Railway workers are responding, restoring, trying to repair everything quickly, and maintaining communication between regions,” the head of state added.
He noted that there was a report on the Kyiv region. “In fact, cogeneration is being added in the region every day. Heating kits are being issued to people, and this program will be expanded. Every day, about 5,000 such heating kits are distributed in the Kyiv region,” the president said.
According to him, the situation with heating in Kyiv remains extremely difficult. In particular, more than 500 apartment buildings remain without heating.
"Repair work is still ongoing. And this certainly cannot be perceived as something normal in the city, when for more than a week now, hundreds of buildings have been without heating every day, regardless of the situation. Whether there are strikes or not, hundreds of buildings in Kyiv are still without heating. This means that the work in the city is not enough," Zelensky emphasized.
He also heard a report from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on support and heating points in Kyiv.
“More people are now turning to these centers, and additional centers have been set up in several districts. Hot meals are being provided. The 112 hotline is working to record all needs. There is a government contact center. The city should at least work with government structures more quickly in this regard so that people can receive timely assistance and accurate information,” the head of state noted.
Zelensky also reported that there were reports on the situation in the Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Khmelnytsky, and Chernivtsi regions.
“We discussed cooperation with Romania separately with the Minister of Energy. There were reports on Donetsk region, and it is important that every need is responded to. Odessa and the region are recovering after the bad weather, all necessary forces are involved. There are power outages in Kirovograd region – work is underway,” he added.
In addition, according to the President, there were reports on Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Poltava regions, as well as Mykolaiv and the region.
“Chernihiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and the region – there is a lot of shelling, and each of them must be responded to – both militarily and diplomatically,” the head of state emphasized.
As reported by Ukrinform, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said that against the backdrop of the difficult situation in the energy system, the government, together with the Naftogaz Group, is providing targeted assistance to citizens with limited mobility, people in difficult life circumstances, and single pensioners. In particular, the first 10,000 “Heat Packages” have already been provided to residents of Kyiv and the region, where the situation is most difficult. This primarily concerns the Darnytskyi, Desnianskyi, and Dniprovskyi districts of the capital, as well as Boryspil and Brovary.
