KCMA does not confirm that 600,000 residents have left Kyiv
The information about 600,000 people leaving Kyiv after the shelling on January 9 has not been confirmed by any unit of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
This was reported on television by KCMA spokeswoman Kateryna Pop, according to Ukrinform.
“This information has not been confirmed by any unit of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), and at present, if such a number of subscribers to whom electricity is supplied had left, the situation with electricity would certainly not be so critical,” Pop said.
The spokeswoman also added that even if such figures are reported, the KCMA sees no confirmation of this, as the situation with electricity supply does not indicate a mass exodus of people.
As reported, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said in an interview with The Times that about 600,000 residents left the capital in January, almost a fifth of Kyiv's population.
