Kyiv to receive additional sources of power generation — Kuleba
Kyiv will soon receive additional power sources to provide heat and electricity to critical locations.
This was announced by Oleksiy Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, following the second meeting of the Headquarters for the Elimination of the Consequences of the Emergency in the Electric Power Systems of the City of Kyiv and the Kyiv Region, Ukrinform reports.
“Additional power generation sources are already being sent to Kyiv—these are quick solutions to provide heat and electricity at critical points. In addition, there are agreements with our regular partners, GIZ and UNDP, for additional cogeneration units in Kyiv. We are awaiting delivery,” the statement said.
Requests from all regional military administrations for generators for water utilities and heating companies are being updated. A request from Kyivvodokanal is being processed separately.
In the near future, Ukraine will also receive about 80 industrial boilers with capacities of 550 to 3,000 kW from Italy, valued at a total of €1.85 million. The equipment will be transferred to Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Donetsk region, as well as Poltava and Kyiv.
At the same time, the government is simplifying procedures for connecting cogeneration plants, modular boiler rooms, gas turbines, and gas piston plants to rapidly increase distributed generation.
As reported, Ukrainian state-owned companies and parts of the private sector plan to increase electricity imports, freeing up up to 1.5 GW of domestic generation for the needs of the population.
