Ukraine increases financial support for families with children starting January 1
On January 1, a law will come into force in Ukraine that strengthens support for families with children and creates conditions for combining parenthood with professional activities.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity.
“The document provides for a comprehensive update of the system of ‘child’ benefits - from the period of pregnancy to the moment the child is enrolled in school - and is aimed at consistent support for families at every stage,” the statement said.
In particular, prenatal support for pregnant uninsured women in the amount of UAH 7,000 per child is being introduced. For military personnel, police officers, and certain categories, a payment of 100% of the average monthly monetary allowance is provided.
The assistance will be paid for 70 days before the birth and 56 days after (or 70 days in the case of complicated births or the birth of twins/triplets). Women affected by the Chernobyl accident will receive assistance for 180 days of leave.
Assistance for the birth of a child is also increased to UAH 50,000. One of the child's parents or the guardian with whom the child permanently resides is entitled to assistance.
In addition, monthly assistance for caring for a child under one year of age is introduced in the amount of UAH 7,000, and for families raising a child with a disability - UAH 10,500 (with a coefficient of 1.5). The benefit is granted from the day after the end of maternity leave.
To support parents who return to work after their child reaches one year of age, the “eYasla” program is being introduced. The payment will be UAH 8,000 per month, and for children with disabilities - UAH 12,000 (coefficient 1.5), and will be provided until the child reaches three years of age.
In addition, families of first-graders will receive a one-time “Schoolchild's Package” allowance of UAH 5,000 for school supplies and clothing. Applications for first-graders for the 2026/2027 school year will begin in the summer of 2026.
As before, when a child is born, families can receive a “Baby Package,” specifically, the package itself or monetary compensation equal to three subsistence minimums for children under six years of age (₴8,451 in 2026).
As reported, the law on new payments for the birth and care of children in Ukraine No. 4681-IX was signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky on November 14, 2025.
