Artist Myroslava Kopcha killed in action
While carrying out a combat mission, 25-year-old graphic artist, designer, and volunteer with the Barracuda aerial reconnaissance unit, Myroslava Kopcha (callsign ‘Akira’), was killed.
As reported by Ukrinform, Suspilne announced this with reference to the Barracuda unit.
Myroslava’s comrade, Artur ‘Promin’ Vilchynskyi, was also killed.
“During a combat mission, while defending the sky over our country, our brother Promin and our sister Akira were killed. They were bright and sincere people. Worthy Ukrainians. It is a great honor for us to serve in the same ranks with you. We will continue your work. We will avenge you,” the unit said.
Myroslava Kopcha was born in Ternopil region and lived in Lviv for a long time. She worked with various graphic techniques: etching, monotype, cardboard engraving, ink. Her work explored themes of female corporeality, memory, and imagery.
In 2021, she debuted with her solo exhibition Construction in her hometown of Berezhany. Local media at the time highlighted the depth of her work and the seriousness of the themes she addressed.
Myroslava took part in Ukrainian and international exhibitions and creative collaborations. She also developed visual branding for the weapons-tuning company Kruk, where her comrade Artur Vilchynskyi was the designer and creator of the products. She was also a designer for the Frontline Team.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, Andrii Sirobaba, an athlete and machine-gunner with the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was killed in combat in Luhansk region.
