Police show footage of search for lioness in Khmelnytskyi

On Saturday, two lionesses escaped from a zoo in Khmelnytskyi. The staff managed to return one of them, while the other was quickly found by the police.

This was reported by the Patrol Police of Khmelnytskyi Region, according to Ukrinform.

“[November 15] The police received a report about two lionesses escaping from the enclosures of a local zoo. Other animals were killed as a result of the incident. The staff managed to return one of the lionesses to the enclosure, while the other ran away from the territory,” the report says.

It is noted that a UAV unit of rescuers and the police were involved in the search for the animal.

“Investigators have launched a pre-trial investigation into the incident under Part 1 of Article 299 (Cruel treatment of animals) of the Criminal Code and are establishing all the circumstances,” the statement said.

As reported, on November 15, two lionesses escaped from an enclosure at a private wildlife rehabilitation center in Khmelnytskyi.
