The monument to the legendary commander Dmytro Kotsiubailo, known by his call sign “Da Vinci,” has been relocated to the Carpathians due to the threat of occupation.

The Rakhiv District Tourist Information Center reported this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

“A monument to Hero of Ukraine Dmytro Kotsiubailo ‘Da Vinci’ was solemnly unveiled on the pass above the Drahobrat resort. It was relocated from a frontline area that is currently under threat of occupation,” the statement reads.

It is noted that the monument was moved specifically to this location — a place where everyone knew him and where he often loved to come.

“From here, he will always see the highest peaks of our state,” the message adds.

According to the report, soldiers from the front, Da Vinci’s comrades-in-arms, friends, and volunteers attended the unveiling ceremony.

Clergymen held a memorial mass.

As reported by Ukrinform, Dmytro Kotsiubailo (Da Vinci) was born in 1995 in the Ivano-Frankivsk region and graduated from an art college. At the age of 18, he took part in the Revolution of Dignity. After the revolution, he went to war as part of the Right Sector Volunteer Corps. At 21, he became commander of the 1st Separate Assault Company Da Vinci’s Wolves, which was transformed into a regiment in 2022.
