Kyiv Unbroken Marathon raises over UAH 2.5M for AFU
During the 15th Kyiv Unbroken Marathon, held on October 11–12 in the capital, organizers raised over UAH 2.5 million to fund drones for the Special Operations Forces.
The organizers of the event reported this to Ukrinform.
“The event brought together 13,508 participants, including 12,402 runners in Kyiv. Among them were hundreds of active military personnel and veterans with prosthetics, as well as runners from 45 countries, including the UK, France, Czechia, Norway, Poland, Germany, the US, and Spain,” the organizers said.
Despite air raid alerts in Kyiv, the marathon went ahead and achieved its main goal: over UAH 2.5 million has already been collected and allocated for large drones for the Special Operations Forces. Of this, UAH 2,005,468 came from registration fees and an additional UAH 552,000 from donations.
On October 12, 50 war veterans and active-duty soldiers who had suffered serious injuries on the front completed a symbolic 100-meter stretch within the Make the Next Step segment. Another hero of the event was Vladyslav Blazhchuk, a war veteran and graduate of the Superhumans rehabilitation center, who completed a full 42 km marathon for the first time since his injury.
Earlier, Ukrinform reported that journalist Olha Zvonariova of Ukrinform, after a year and a half of recovery and intensive rehabilitation following a severe injury, completed the 10-kilometer Heroes of the Nation race at the marathon.
