Power restored to 270,000 customers in Kyiv, emergency outage schedules cancelled in three cities
Emergency power outage schedules in Kharkiv, Poltava, and Sumy have been cancelled, while standard outage schedules remain in place. In Kyiv, electricity has been restored to 270,000 customers.
As reported by Ukrinform, Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk announced this on Facebook.
According to her, as of 12:00, restoration works in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region, have been completed. Emergency outage schedules in Kharkiv, Poltava, and Sumy have been canceled, though regular schedules continue to apply. Additionally, energy workers have restored power to 270,000 customers in Kyiv.
Hrynchuk visited generation facilities that came under heavy Russian attack overnight on October 10.
The minister noted that energy workers immediately began damage assessments and repair efforts as soon as it became safe to do so. Specialists are working to restore electricity to Ukrainian homes as quickly as possible.
She reported to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on the consequences of the Russian attack, the damage assessment, and concrete steps for restoration.
The Ministry of Energy will provide updated information on the state of the power system and progress of recovery operations every two hours.
“Exactly three years ago to the day, on October 10, our energy system endured one of the first massive attacks. Today, Russia continues to use cold and darkness as instruments of terror,” Hrynchuk stated.
The most difficult situation remains in the Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, and Chernihiv regions. The situation also remains challenging in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
The enemy constantly changes its tactics, carrying out massive attacks on individual facilities with large numbers of drones or missiles.
Energy workers have clear instructions on how to respond under various circumstances. The minister assured that communication with international partners continues to strengthen the protection of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and resilience.
Energy teams are working around the clock to mitigate the consequences of enemy strikes.
As reported by Ukrinform, the most difficult situation after the overnight attack was in Kyiv and five regions where emergency outages were introduced. Emergency shutdowns were also in effect in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
