Zelensky visited Flextronics factory in Mukachevo
President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Flextronics factory in Mukachevo, which was shelled on August 21.
The head of state announced this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
"The Flextronics factory in Mukachevo is a company with American investments. It manufactured household appliances. Russia launched a missile strike on it on the morning of August 21. Seventeen people were injured in the strike, some of whom are still in the hospital. Today, I spoke with representatives of the enterprise on site about the plant's work and restoration," he wrote.
Zelensky stated that Russian missiles and drones are striking across the country. At the same time, he thanked everyone who works at the plant.
“It is very important for us that American businesses are present in Ukraine. We will do everything we can to help the company recover as quickly as possible,” the President added.
According to Anna Dragun, CEO of Flextronics Ukraine, thanks to the warning about the danger and the prompt response, all 600 employees of the enterprise were evacuated in time, according to the website of the Office of the President.
“Our company specializes exclusively in the production of consumer goods, in particular coffee makers, and has never been involved in the production and supply of military equipment or defense products,” she emphasized.
The CEO noted that the main priority now is to support employees and restore production capacity.
Julie Davis, Chargé d'Affaires of the United States in Ukraine, who was also present at the meeting, thanked the President for his support.
As reported by Ukrinform, today, September 5, in Uzhhorod, President Volodymyr Zelensky met with European Council President António Costa, Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malm, and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
