Crimean Tatar publishing project Kitap Qalesi appears in Ukraine

The Crimean Tatar publishing project Kitap Qalesi ("Book Fortress") has started working.

This is stated in the project's Instagram post, according to Ukrinform.

"We are the new Crimean Tatar publishing project Kitap Qalesi. Translated from Crimean Tatar, it means "Book Fortress". Our goal is to develop the Crimean Tatar language through literature," the post reads.

It is reported that the project plans to transliterate classical Crimean Tatar literature into Latin; develop and publish contemporary Crimean Tatar authors; and translate into Ukrainian.

Currently, the Kitap Qalesi team is working on the first book.

As reported, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk emphasized that in order to protect the Crimean Tatar language, it is necessary to develop a spelling and a legal framework for its approval.
